
Discover THE SPORT & ART OF Taekwondo – A Meaningful Post-Exam Activity for Students
An SEP-approved programme where students learn a new sport, develop discipline, and build confidence in a safe, structured, and fun environment. Designed for MOE primary and secondary schools, this beginner-friendly course introduces the values, techniques, and life lessons of Taekwondo through hands-on, interactive learning.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES:
By the end of this introductory programme, students will be able to:

Understand the laws governing self-defence in Singapore

Learn non-physical aspects of self-defence (situational awareness and street smartness)

Execute basic Taekwondo techniques: kicking, striking, and blocking

Learn and perform one official Taekwondo pattern
-
Try basic board-breaking techniques
-
Participate in a mini showcase to demonstrate their learning
Note: As per SEP requirements, there will be no sparring, combat, or striking between students.
WHAT STUDENTS WILL EXPERIENCE:
Students will enjoy a safe, engaging introduction to Taekwondo, where they:

Practice controlled kicks and striking drills using hand mitts and kicking bags

Put their memory to the test by learning 1 of the official Taekwondo pattern (Poomsae)

Explore the difference between self-defence and retaliation (“he hit me first” mindset)

Discuss when and where self-defence is appropriate, and the consequences of misuse

Develop values of discipline, respect, and resilience while having fun
